Hydrogen atoms in a strong magnetic field and non-Hermitian relativistic quantum mechanics

Hydrogen atoms in strong magnetic field, typically found on the surface of neutron stars were studied. An integral equation approach was developed that provides a new perspective on this old problem.
The basic equations of relativistic quantum mechanics were reformulated as non-Hermitian operator equations and a solution method in terms of integral equations has been proposed.
I also report on the status of my lecture notes "Mastering Quantum Mechanics" used in our graduate physics program.
About the Colloquium
The Colloquium is a unique opportunity for students to learn about new developments in physics and what physicists do after they graduate. Hosted by the Physics and Astronomy Department at California State University, Long Beach, the weekly meetings invite guests from universities, research laboratories, and industry to present and discuss current topics in physics. All students are encouraged to attend for a well-rounded experience and training in physics.
