CNSM Faculty Awarded $4.2M NSF Grant for Materials Science Research and Education

California State University, Long Beach (ΠΤΈ£±¦) faculty led by PI Michael Peterson (Physics and Astronomy) and Co-PIs Jiyeong Gu (Physics and Astronomy) and Ryan Blair (Mathematics and Statistics) have been awarded a 6-year $4.2M grant from the NSF's Partnership for Research and Education in Materials (PREM) program. The grant opens doors to new opportunities for ΠΤΈ£±¦ students in research, education, and broadening participation in materials science.

This grant is a collaboration between the departments of Physics and Astronomy, Chemistry and Biochemistry, and Mathematics and Statistics at ΠΤΈ£±¦, and the Center for Emergent Materials MRSEC at The Ohio State University (OSU). The OSU team is led by Co-PIs Jay Gupta (Department of Physics, OSU) and Joshua Goldberger (Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, OSU).
